The Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) of the Bible was created to provide a clear and simple English translation for people who are learning English or have limited English proficiency. The ERV was published in 2006 with the goal of making the Bible understandable and accessible to all.
This translation uses straightforward, everyday language and avoids the use of complex theological terms. It makes the Scriptures approachable for new readers and those who might struggle with more traditional versions.
The ERV is especially popular among young readers, new Christians, or those who speak English as a second language. It includes translations of both the Old and New Testaments, with an emphasis on readability and clarity.
The translation team consisted of linguists and biblical scholars who worked to produce a text that is faithful to the original manuscripts while being easy to understand. The ERV is a great tool for evangelism, Bible study, and personal devotions.
Its straightforward language makes the ERV suitable for a wide range of readers, including children and adults who are new to the Bible.
With its focus on simplicity and clarity, the Easy-to-Read Version helps to bring the message of the Bible to life for contemporary audiences.
Quotations from the ERV text may be used up to and inclusive of five hundred (500) verses without express written permission, providing the verses do not amount to a complete book of the Bible nor do the verses quoted account for twenty-five percent (25%) or more of the total text of the work in which they are quoted.
